My name is Vincent Evans-Arlequin, and I am a Senior at Le Moyne College pursuing a B.A. in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Information & System Security and a minor in Political Science.
Driven by a passion for technical excellence and campus leadership, I serve as the Senior SOC Analyst for Le Moyne's Information Security Operations Center, where I oversee operational compliance and mentor junior analysts. My technical foundations are backed by a suite of industry certifications, including CompTIA Security+, A+, ITF+, and the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) credential, alongside professional experience utilizing enterprise tools like CrowdStrike Falcon and Atlassian software. Beyond the SOC, I support peer academic growth as a Cybersecurity Instructional Tutor for the college's Quantitative Reasoning Center.
In addition to my technical roles, I am heavily invested in governance and community advocacy, serving as the Director of Academic Affairs for the Student Government Association and maintaining an active role in the ERIE21 College Program, Cybersecurity Club, WiCYS, and the 8 Ball Billiards Club. My academic dedication has earned me recognition as a multi-year Dean's Scholar, as well as inductions into the Alpha Lambda Delta and Pi Sigma Alpha (Political Science) Honor Societies. I am also a licensed New York State Notary Public.
CompTIA Security + is the premier global certification that establishes the essential skills required for core security functions and a career in IT security. It showcases professionals' capabilities in securing networks, applications, and devices, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and availability. CompTIA Security+ focuses on practical, hands-on skills to tackle real-world challenges. As the most widely recognized credential, it is invaluable for advancing in the dynamic field of cybersecurity. I achieved this certification during my third year of college with the support of the ERIE21 College Program.
The ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) credential demonstrates to employers that I possess the foundational knowledge, skills, and abilities required for an entry- or junior-level role in cybersecurity. It reflects my understanding of essential security principles, best practices, policies, and procedures, as well as my commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. The certification exam covers five core domains: Security Principles, Business Continuity (BC), Disaster Recovery (DR) & Incident Response Concepts, Access Control Concepts, Network Security, and Security Operations.
CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for launching IT careers into today’s digital world. I achieved this certification in my Junior Year of High School as part of the Broome-Tioga BOCES Career & Technical Education IT Specialist Program.
CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) is an introduction to basic IT knowledge and skills that helps you determine whether you have what it takes to work in IT. I achieved this certification in my Junior Year of High School as part of the Broome-Tioga BOCES Career & Technical Education IT Specialist Program.
Notaries Public are "commissioned" (i.e., licensed) by the Secretary of State. Notarial functions include: administering oaths and affirmations; taking affidavits and depositions; receiving and certifying acknowledgments or proof of such written instruments as deeds, mortgages and powers of attorney; and; demanding acceptance or payment of foreign and inland bills of exchange, promissory notes and obligations in writing, and protesting the same for non-payment.
As part of my SOC 201: Research Methods class, I was required to write a traditional research paper, including a literature review, data collected via interviews, and analysis. I chose to conduct research on cybersecurity within a higher-education setting. I may come back to this project in the future for future development and research.
As part of my LGS 201: Introduction to Legal Studies class, I was required to write a seven page research paper on a topic of my choice. I wrote on the barriers that exist in accessing justice and the law.
As part of my ENG 210: Major Authors: Shakespeare class, I was tasked with writing a 12-page paper about ambiguities found within Shakespeare's Richard III and Henry VIII, as well as various interpretations that could be made based on these ambiguities.
I assisted with writing a Broome County Resolution that was adopted on November 17, 2022, and signed into law by the County Executive on November 22, 2022.
